A New Milestone

We have started our journey into our fourth year. This has been such an eventful year. In the third year we became a family of three (or as some would say, we became a family.)

Aniruddha started crawling two weeks ago, and nothing on ground is the new policy at home.

Touch-pad

"I cant reach the keyboard yet, but I will work with the touchpad for now."

For some reason, he knows doing something on the keyboard or the touchpad (the bottom portion) makes the screen work. This observation is pretty significant!

Hold me tight

Really dont know who is holding whom?

Whether he is holding me or I am holding him? Am I his support or he is mine? Small, yet so strong.

Mobility

Aniruddha turned on his tummy (25th Feb at 3:30PM IST), first step towards mobility. The question is what drives this? To a certain extent it is genetic I guess.

Name's Aniruddha

We named our son in a nice ceremony at Vidyapeetha on Dec 10th. One is supposed to have four names - Kuladevatha naama, maasa naama, nakshatra naama and vyavaharika naama. The first one in the honour of the ancestral God, the second is the name of month's God, then the name according to the birth star, and the last is the name which is used in day-to-day life. My son was born in the ashwini star and hence the name needs to start with either one of these letters - cha, che, cho, la.

So my son's name is -
Srinivasa Pundareekaaksha Lakshmi Narayana Aniruddha.

Aniruddha means free, one without opposition, one without viruddha.

A New Expedition

This is the new expedition. Everybody in the world has taken up this one and everybody has walked this path, but everytime its different. It is as unique as the individuals we are. We found out on 14th March. And in exactly eight months we had the package in front of us. Never got around to writing about the whole journey. Today (Nov 17th), Mom and the baby arrived home from the hospital.

Its been quite a pleasant pregnancy I should say atleast from my perspective. Prathi handled it so well. However the delivery was a bit too nerve racking. Prathi was admitted to the hospital on 14th in the morning for a routine labor induced delivery. By 1:00 PM everything seemed normal and she was having usual contractions. By 1:30, baby's heart rate dropped to a dangerous 60 which alarmed the doctors. She was taken into the OR at 1:45 PM. Dr. Sudha Kannan did the C-section and the baby was born at 1:58 PM. The last fifteen minutes was really difficult.

We didnot think about C-Section at all during the pregnancy. The baby was in perfect position, only that he was floating all the while. We were hoping that it would be a normal delivery. Everything changed in the last minute. Its difficult not to think about the reasons and alternatives. What could be done differently? What could have gone wrong? Why did it go wrong? "Both Mommy and baby came out of the ordeal safely and thats what matters" - is the immediate reaction.

Nov 14th is "Children's day" in India to commemorate Nehru's birthday. The funny part of it is that Feb 14th is Valentine's day and the difference between the two days is nine months. The expedition now enters the next phase.

Deer at Yellowstone

The deer population at Mammoth Hot springs is quite nice to see. You see them right by the road grazing on the lawn maintained by the Mammoth Hotel. The first photo is of two friendly elks lazing around next to the road which caused a huge road block... but the road here is their land anyway.

The shrees at Yellowstone national park in front of the North entrance gate. This national park was established in March 1, 1872, the first in the world.
